Privacy Policy
Overview
DMV Prep is a practice and learning platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. DMV Prep is not an official government service.
Information We Collect
Account Information
If you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication details needed to sign you in. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are not stored in plain text by us.
Practice Progress and App Usage
We store practice progress so you can continue where you left off. This may include the state and category you practiced, your current position, and counts such as how many questions you answered and how many you answered correctly.
Device Storage (Local)
DMV Prep uses local device storage (for example, browser localStorage) to save progress and preferences on your device. This storage remains on your device unless you clear it.
Cookies
DMV Prep does not use advertising cookies. Some services we use may store small identifiers to keep you signed in or to support offline behavior. You can control cookies and site data in your browser settings.
Analytics
We do not run third-party advertising analytics on DMV Prep. We may rely on basic operational logging (for example, error logs and performance logs) to keep the service reliable. If we add a dedicated analytics product in the future, we will update this policy.
How We Use Information
- To create and maintain your account and keep you signed in.
- To save and sync your DMV practice progress across devices.
- To operate, secure, and improve the app (for example, diagnosing errors).
- To respond to support requests.
Third-Party Services
DMV Prep uses third-party services to provide core functionality. Depending on your usage and configuration, these may include:
- Authentication and database services (for account login and progress sync).
- Text-to-speech services for reading questions aloud when you press the speak button.
- Hosting and delivery services to serve the website and assets.
These providers may process limited data to deliver their services. We do not sell your personal data.
Text-to-Speech (TTS)
If you use the speak feature, the text of the question may be sent to a text-to-speech provider to generate audio. This is done only when you press the speak button.
Data Retention
We retain account and progress information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Local device storage persists until you clear it.
Data Deletion
You can request deletion of your account and cloud-synced progress:
- Email support@dmvprep.app from the email address associated with your account.
- Include the subject line Data Deletion Request and a short message asking us to delete your account and progress.
To remove local progress stored on your device, you can clear site data in your browser settings.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s Privacy
DMV Prep is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the effective date.
